Students must be non Chinese nationals, including Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau.
General Visiting Students are required to have already received HSK Level 6 or tested their Chinese proficiency themselves by trying Chinese-taught courses.
Only those students whose results meet the standard are allowed to take Chinese-taught specialty courses, otherwise it is suggested that they study Chinese in the School of Chinese as a Second Language for one or two semesters.
Peking University Student Service and Affairs offer a range of student support including counselling health.
PKU offers many dormitory types to international students: the Global Village (Zhong Guan Xin Yuan) and Wanliu campus. The monthly rent is around 3000-4200 Yuan.
Online dorm booking will start in mid July/mid January. Please pay close attention to the latest information on the PKU website.

Exchange students are required to purchase the Comprehensive Insurance Plan of Foreign Students provided by Ping An insurance on the first day of registration. Students who do not have the required insurance will not be allowed to register.
An estimated cost of living for one year is roughly 50,000 RMB (depending on exchange rate roughly £5000). This includes approximate costs of accommodation, meals and transport.
From the UNESCO sites of the Forbidden City and the Summer Palace, Beijing has a wealth of traditional architecture, as has PKU, renowned for its campus grounds.
