Please note: Due to recent changes in Canadian Immigration requirements, which may affect McMaster's ability to accept full year exchange students, students who apply for exchange at McMaster may only be able to undertake one semester of study at McMaster. In this circumstance, students will complete their second semester with one of our European partners via the European exchange process. For those students considering McMaster as an exchange destination, applications are still encouraged.

Exchange students should take 15 units per term/semester (30 units per year).

Students accepted at UG level are not permitted to take PG courses under any circumstances. There are some course restrictions for exchange students.
The language of instruction at McMaster is English. If you are non native English speaker, you may be asked to provide evidence of language ability.
McMaster are running information sessions for students interested in a study exchange. The sessions will take place in October, November, December and January.
On-campus accommodation is not guaranteed for exchange students, and is allocated by a room lottery system which should be applied for after nomination. On and off-campus housing information can be found here.
Meal plans are compulsory for students who live on campus.
McMaster University offer a range of Campus Support Services including Student Accessibility Service, Athletics and Recreation.
Students are required to enrol in the University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP) prior to arriving at McMaster. This would cost roughly $756 for the full year.
The Office of International Affairs offers a variety of summer English programs created to give students a sample of life, studies, and research at McMaster University.
