Scholarships you may be eligible for as a student from North America

We are committed to supporting the best students irrespective of financial circumstances. The following scholarships and bursaries are either funded by the University, through partnerships with external organisations or through generous donations from alumni and friends of the University.

In addition to the scholarships below, other options for funding your studies may also be available.

Scholarships for students from North America studying at Durham 2024-25

Support What is it? Who's it for? How much? When can I apply?
Fulbright - Durham Scholarship (PGT) The US-UK Fulbright Commission focuses on opportunities and exchanges between the USA and the UK, as part of a global programme. Eligible students who are US citizens, resident anywhere except the UK before commencing study. Full tuition fee scholarship, and up to $15,609 living costs, plus travel. March-October
Marshall Scholarship (PGT) Marshall Scholarships finance young Americans of high ability, to study for a degree in the UK. Scholars are selected for any field of study. Eligible students from the US. Various, see Marshall Scholarships for details. Before September 24-26 depending on specifics. See website.
Rise Scholarships (UG) Rise is an initiative of Schmidt Futures and the Rhodes Trust that finds promising young people and provides them with opportunities that allow them to work together to serve others over their lifetimes. Rise winners from around the world.  Full payment of tuition fees, plus winners can also receive funding for a living stipend, accommodation, visa and immigration costs and health surcharges. Alumni Fee Scholarship (PGT) Students who have completed an undergraduate degree at Durham are eligible for a 10-15% discount, depending on the PGT course studied. Students of all nationalities who have completed an undergraduate degree at Durham and would like to progress to a postgraduate taught (PGT) degree.

15% discount for:

  • MSc Economics (L1T109, L1T409, L1T309)
  • MSc Finance (all routes - N3K109, N3K209, N3K309. N3K409, N3KC09)

10% discount for:

  • All other programmes
This discount will be applied automatically.
