Beat the Monday Blues and go on a Blind Date with a Book
Make time for some ‘shelf’ indulgence this Blue Monday and go on a Blind Date with a Book!
On Monday 20 January, a range of fiction titles - carefully selected from recommendations made by students - will be waiting patiently on our dating scene bookshelves in Bill Bryson Library. The books will be dressed in their finest brown wrapping paper with mere hints written on the front as to what you’ll find inside.
You can borrow any of the books without seeing it or leafing through its pages first - a fantastic way to discover new genres, authors, stories and experiences.
Will you fall in love? Will they make you weep? Will you be amazed? You may even want to see them again...
But one thing’s for sure – you won’t be judging a book by its cover!
How it works
- Choose a wrapped book from our bookshelves
- Use our self-service machines to borrow the book – you can then unwrap it to reveal your choice
- Head to your favourite spot to read your book – if you like it, you can even introduce it to your family and friends
- Once your date has ended, simply return the book to the library – you can always borrow it from us again!
