We are pleased to let you know that all staff and students can now access exceptional cinema free of charge as part of the University's collaboration with the BFI (British Film Institute).

BFI Player is an online service, streaming landmark British and European independent films. Enjoy exclusive subscription-only films and search collections including LGBTIQ+, visionary directors and black stories.

The BFI are a cultural charity, a National Lottery distributor, and the UK's lead organisation for film and the moving image.

How do I access BFI Player?

Simply visit the Library Catalogue and follow the steps below to access our subscription:

  1. Go to https://player.bfi.org.uk/academic/subscribe and create an account OR sign in if you already have one by selecting 'Already have an account? Sign in'
  2. Select Durham University from the dropdown list
  3. Authenticate your subscription using your university credentials

Once you've set up your subscription, you can simply login on BFI Player for the remainder of this academic year. You don't need to use the subscribe link.
