The Ethics Cup is a schools competition run by St. Andrews University which promotes interest in philosophy among secondary school pupils and to models civil discourse on important contemporary issues. The competition for 2025 will be launched in September and a date for the regional heat, hosted by the School of Government and International Affairs at Durham University, will be announced then.
The competition encourages students to discuss and develop ideas collaboratively in a seminar-style conversation, rather than a traditional debate format. It is also an excellent opportunity for pupils and teachers to visit a university and interact with its members, which discussing important ethical and political issues. The Ethics Cup is a great way to break barriers, widen access, and increase participation and love for learning.
