Welcome and introduction
Congratulations on receiving an offer to study with us at Durham University! As members of the Music Department, we are pleased to welcome you to the Post-offer Visit Day. Our sessions will take place in Divinity House, Palace Green, at the heart of Durham’s UNESCO World Heritage Site.
We would also like to extend a warm welcome to Durham to the guests of offer-holders, though – with a view to room capacity – it may not be possible to participate in the academic taster sessions.
Guests are encouraged to visit our Information Fair in the Teaching and Learning Centre between 9:30 am and 1.30 pm. On our ‘Post-offer Visit Days’ page you will find further information about the days' schedule.
We look forward to meeting you!

At Durham you will engage actively with music both familiar and unfamiliar and be challenged to think about music in new ways. Our research-led teaching allows you to work closely with internationally renowned experts, who support and encourage you to develop independent study skills. By the end of the course, you will be producing independent project work that engages with the latest research in your chosen area of study. Our curriculum provides you with a diverse but well-balanced university education that will stimulate your curiosity, while developing the skills necessary to give you a head start in further study or future employment.
Information for guests
We welcome guests of prospective students, including parents and guardians, to join them at the taster sessions. The Music Department is nevertheless located within the historic UNESCO World Heritage Site comprising the magnificent 11th-century Cathedral and Castle, and we encourage guests to explore the Site during the taster sessions.
