The Road to COP 26/CMA 3 Preparatory Lecture Series is a collaboration between the Centre for International Law-NUS, Durham Law School and the IUCN WCEL. This monthly series of lectures has provided an expert overview of the key issues that will be discussed during COP 26/CMA 3, in the context of past COPs and the UNFCCC/Paris Agreement legal framework. In the spirit of strengthening academic partnerships globally, the international research advisory board (IRAB) was founded in May 2020. IRAB comprises a group of experts in climate law, energy law, climate science and health science, with expertise in academic research and legal practice.

Over the past five months, 25 academics, led by Prof Aoife O’Donoghue (Durham) and Máiréad Enright (Birmingham University Law School) rewrote the Executive Summary of the Irish Mother and Baby Homes Commission of Investigation Report.

Professor Thom Brooks has been invited to become an elected member of the Academia Europaea (Academy of Europe), a pan-European Academy of Sciences, Humanities and Letters founded in 1988.

Justice Brian Preston, Chief Judge of the Land and Environment Court of New South Wales, Australia, gives the first lecture in the Durham University COP26 Event Series, taking place between May and September 2021.

Irene Wieczorek’s book “The Legitimacy of EU Criminal Law” (Hart 2020) was quoted by the Advocate General Priit Pikamäe in Opinion C‑845/19 et C‑863/19 before the Court of Justice of the European Union.
