Dr Pratyush Nath Upreti is a Senior Lecturer in Law at the School of Law, Queen’s University Belfast. Before his appointment at Queen’s University Belfast, he held a position at the Faculty of Law, University of Helsinki, and the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition Law, Munich. He was a fellow at Stanford Law School, Transatlantic Technology Law Forum (TTLF) from 2018- 2023. He has acted as an expert and commissioned studies for the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and is currently a member of the expert committee on the research project of the World Health Organisation (WHO) South-East Asia. He is the author of Intellectual Property Objectives in International Investment Agreements (Edward Elgar, 2022) which was voted for the IPKat 2022 IP Law Book of the Year, and Co-editor of Intellectual Property Rights in the Post-Pandemic World (Edward Elgar, 2023). He is an expert in international intellectual property (IP and is interested in interfaces of IP with different legal regimes in international law including Asian Legal Studies (particularly South Asia)/Global South more generally.
He is the Programme Director of LLM in Intellectual Property Law at School of Law, Queen’s University Belfast.
