History department is leading one of the three Inventing Futures research programmes funded by a generous alumni donation for the Institute of Medieval and Early Modern Studies (IMEMS).

Durham University announced a major donation on IMEMS Inventing Futures Programme, which will address a specific global challenges related to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG).

Tom Hamilton, Associate Professor in Early Modern European History is leading one of the three research projects, called Forging Social Solidarities During Religious Wars.

The project will examine how societies can maintain cohesion amidst civil wars driven by religious differences. The donation will fund an early career researcher and a fully funded PhD student on the project.
