Celebrate Science Festival

The university's recent Celebrate Science event concluded with exceptional participation, attracting over 7,500 visitors across three days during the half-term school break. Science enthusiasts of all ages, from children to grandparents, engaged with a variety of interactive displays and scientific demonstrations.

The standout attraction of the Engineering section was the mini wind tunnel where floating ping pong balls demonstrated principles of aerodynamics in a fun and tangible way. Other exhibits, including wind turbine models, paper spatial trusses, and a thermal camera, were also well-received, adding to the educational atmosphere of the festival.

The event's success was made possible by the wonderful volunteers from the Engineering Department, including: Alessandro Borghi, Isha Saxena, George Scott, Anna Weatherburn, Phil Scaplehorn, Oliver Vogt, Rachel Ilsley, Richard Williams, Charlotte Tucker, Izzy Barr, Marta Serrani, Charlotte Margetson, Matthew Moran, Smitha Sivadasan, Eleanor New, Nicola Ho, Indi Beauchamp, Mahdi Amanipour, Caitlin Musto, Hannah Meeks, and Gary Parker. Their dedication and enthusiasm were crucial to the festival’s positive outcome.
