AI in Science with a perspective from medical ultrasound imaging

Artificial Intelligence (AI) methodologies are transforming many areas of basic and applied science, in many cases quite quickly. Medical ultrasound imaging (sonography) is one such case. In this case the pattern recognition strength of AI, particularly deep learning, can make sense of acoustic patterns as well as, if not better than a human.

AI-based tools are also changing  the scientific process across different science disciplines. Professor Noble will discuss how this is challenging scientific communities, particularly relating to reproducibility, trustworthiness and skills.
