Abstract:
The core of the Hawk-Eye technology is camera based tracking, capable of tracking a ball to 2-3mm. In football it can achieve this even when it is largely occluded by the players. Each sports governing body has gone about the process of introducing technology to assist the officials in different ways. Through these experiences, Paul has become very well versed in all the benefits, challenges and pitfalls of navigating this process. This goes beyond the technology, but also the way in which it is tested, licensed and the protocols by which it is used.
