Tom Phillips: 2020 President’s Award from the Geological Society
After a long wait, Tom Phillips received the 2020 Presidents Award from the Geological Society in a virtual ceremony held on the Feb 25, 2021 .
The award is given to Early Career Researchers who show significant early promise and are judged to be potential future leaders in their field. Tom’s citation touched upon his contributions to our understanding of rifting and structural inheritance and research in a broad range of fields. Tom, who is a Leverhulme Early Career Research Fellow, said: “I am honoured to receive the award and would like to thank all of the people that I have had the privilege of working with throughout my research career who have given me the freedom and encouragement to explore a range of interesting topics, as well as my family for stimulating my interest in science and the natural world from a young age.”
