Metallomics Facility
The Metallomics facility provides the ability to measure metal content and concentration in various biology samples, using an up to date Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) machine.
This facility instrument, ICP-MS iCAP RQ is fitted with Qcell Collision cell using He to enhance sensitivity and reduce interference by other polyatomic species. Multiple metals can be analysed from a single sample providing significant data in a short time scale. This is an alternative facility which focusses on biological work (including proteins, cells (medical, cell line cultures), bacteria, yeast, plants) to reduce contamination of earth samples. Metallomics staff offer expertise on experimental design, sample digest and preparation, and data processing.
