The Rosemary Cramp Fund was set up on the retirement of Professor Rosemary Cramp from the Chair of Archaeology at Durham University to honour her many achievements and contributions to archaeology and the heritage. The Fund makes grants to individuals and organisations, especially students and early career researchers, from within and beyond Durham University who put forward projects that fall within its scope; and where there is a strong emphasis on innovation.
The main area of interest of the fund is the archaeology and heritage of Britain and Ireland, with a particular emphasis on Northern Britain between AD 400 and 1100. Proposals to assist student research projects are especially welcome, though organisations and other individuals are also encouraged to apply. Student tuition fees and ongoing subsistence costs are not eligible for support, nor will archaeological excavation normally be eligible.
There is no formal financial limit as to what can be requested from the Rosemary Cramp fund but applicants should be advised that previous awards have typically been in the range of £50-£300.
