Community Engagement Task Force Lived Environment Sub-Group 

Chaired by the Director of Estates & Facilities, this group looks at what the University is doing in terms of its: 

  • ongoing programme of works and major projects to buildings within the City; 
  • projects and partnership working around travel and transport; 
  • works and smaller projects to improve / maintain University assets of public interest; 
  • liaison around significant planning proposals with an impact on both student and non-student residents; 
  • responses to wider City and County consultations and strategies e.g. Licensing; 
  • approaches to key issues of environmental concern e.g. Biodiversity, Climate Change, Single Use Plastics reduction.

Key areas this sub-group remains focussed on looking at together include: 

  • who the University is engaging, when and how during major projects, ensuring good levels of engagement from the local community; 
  • key policy and practice changes externally around areas such as the night time economy, landlord licensing and planning; 
  • how the University can support with emerging issues; 
  • the University’s green initiatives such as the Green Move Out.
