Community Engagement Task Force Culture Sub-Group 

Now stood down, under the chairmanship of the University's Cultural Engagement Manager, this group looked at what the University was doing: 

  • to engage the local community with its collections, spaces, heritage and culture; 
  • to work jointly within the wider cultural landscape in the City, County and beyond; 
  • with events programmes such as Summer In The City and the Community Fun Day; 
  • within its programmes of development for key spaces such as the Assembly Rooms; 
  • in relation to its place within the World Heritage site.

  • Durham County Council

Key areas this sub-group focussed on looking at together included: 

  • plans coming from the 2025 City of Culture bid 
  • events development - such as the annual Community Fun Day 
  • new and emerging projects and partnership working 
  • the University’s role in key events such as Lumiere
