Community Engagement Task Force Citizenship Sub-Group
This sub-group has now been wound down. Chaired by the Director for Student Support & Wellbeing, this group looked at what the University was doing and how well we were:
- Increasing awareness of the University’s current approaches to encourage positive citizenship
- Building students sense of belonging and responsibility
- Engaging with residents and key external stakeholders on citizenship matters
- Identifying and acting on opportunities to enhance positive citizenship.

- Durham County Council
- City of Durham Parish Council
- Durham University Residents Forum
Key actions this sub-group undertook included:
- Development and review of the Student Pledge
- Development and review of the Student Community Warden service
- Supported the implementation of a 3 year service level agreement with the Durham County Council Neighbourhood Warden Service*
- Reviewed the approach to communication with students living out in Durham City
- Reviewed proposals for programmes of activity students could undertake to gain experience in positive citizenship
- Highlighted non-student resident concerns with issues approached under partnership or multi agency initiaitives
