Our Spring Telephone Campaign

Van Mildert College with buttercups

This March, Van Mildert College will be holding its first ever telephone campaign, as part of the year of celebrations to mark our 60th anniversary.  A group of our students will be calling some of our alumni to talk about their memories of Van Mildert, to share stories of how the college continues to make a positive difference in the lives of its students, and to talk about our plans to make sure our college community thrives in the future.  Van Mildert College is a remarkable place, where lasting friendships are formed and indelible memories are made: when current Mildertians talk to their counterparts from previous years, we know that some interesting conversations are bound to happen.

Our jubilee projects

We’ll also be talking about the four jubilee projects that we’ve identified in consultation with current students.  All four projects share the aim of creating a sense of belonging, regardless of background or financial situation.  We want to increase financial support for students to remove barriers to full participation in the student experience, to develop a new common room for studying and socialising, to improve the performance space in our Ann Dobson Hall, and to rebuild our boat house, which was destroyed in a fire in 2021.  You can read more about these projects here.  If you’d prefer not to receive a call, you can opt out by emailing annual.fund@durham.ac.uk.

Now is the time to build on the solid foundations established by generations of Mildertians and secure a bright future for those to come.  Our students are looking forward to talking with our alumni about everything they love about Van Mildert College.

Thank you

College Principal, Professor Tom Mole
