Performing Arts and Theatre

Van Mildert has a lively performing arts community. Our students host events such as the 24h musical and our Christmas Pantomime that usually pokes friendly fun at Durham University. The Ann Dobson Hall is a large multi-purpose hall, fit for theatrical productions, concerts and events. Numerous music and arts events run by Van Mildert students take place here throughout the year.​

​Music Rooms

We have two music rooms available for students to book. Between them, they have a baby grand piano, an upright piano, a drum kit, a keyboard, and guitar amps, amongst other instruments and equipment. The rooms are large enough for a group or individual practice. There is also an additional upright piano situated in the main College building that students can sit at and play and an even larger Grand Piano students can book.​

Students are encouraged to bring their own musical instruments with them and book a slot in one of our music rooms to practice or play with their friends. There are also lots of musical opportunities within our JCR, including Big Band, Choir, and Jam Soc.
