125th Anniversary Play

Foot of the Hill Theatre Company has assembled a group of student writers to delve into the rich and empowering history of our beloved college from past to present.

Drawing inspiration from a vast collection of archived books and alumni experiences, the audience will be whisked through 125 years of St Mary’s.

FHTC

The resident theatre company of St Mary’s College, Foot of the Hill Theatre Company (FHTC) is open to all students regardless of college. The aim is to create a fun, welcoming environment in which people can become fully immersed in theatre, regardless of their experience. Previous productions include musicals such as Little Shop of Horrors and High School Musical, as well as more traditional plays such as Shakespeare’s Comedy of Errors and Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest.

The Play

The 125th Anniversary Play will take place at The Sir Thomas Allen Assembly Rooms in the heart of Durham city. Previously used as a ballroom, The Assembly Rooms is home to Durham University Performing Arts and Durham Student Theatre as well as Music Durham.

Along with FHTC, we’d like to welcome as many people as possible to watch the play and celebrate our history. Click on the link below if you’d like to purchase tickets for this one-off production.

University student
We are incredibly excited to celebrate our college’s 125th anniversary with this special production. As the first all-female college at the university, our history is filled with inspiring stories that have shaped who we are today. This student-written play is a tribute to that legacy, and we’re delighted to perform it in the Assembly Rooms Theatre—a venue that holds such significance for our university community. We look forward to sharing this celebration of our college’s rich heritage with alumni, students and friends of Mary’s, to honour our remarkable journey.
