Durham Days 2025 in Shenzhen

In the first week of March, we will be commemorating Durham’s international reach and influence by coming together for Durham Global Week. As part of this celebration, alumni and friends around the world, united by shared experiences and memories of Durham, will get together to celebrate their connection with the University at social events hosted by alumni, for alumni.

The event will include: a Pitch Session of 20 minutes per startup, including presentation and Q&A for startups to prepare a PPT outlining their business model, market analysis, and future plans; an Investment Analysis & Feedback of 20 minutes per project following the pitch, where alumni will provide project analysis and improvement suggestions based on their expertise. The sessions will assist startups in understanding their business from an investor's viewpoint.

Dr. Wangzhe Li (BSc Chemistry, Trevelyan College, 2015-18): Founder with extensive experience in hydrogenase research, recognised by Nature Magazine; founder of Unik Edu, awarded the CHUNHUI Cup in the UK.

 

Weilin Meng (MSc Marketing, Ustinov College, 2018-20): Co-founder of Alignion, with a background in Biomedical Engineering and Marketing, experienced in market research and product strategy.

Jun Zhang (MSc Accounting & Finance, Ustinov College, 2007-08): With a strong background in healthcare investments, Jun has been involved in multiple successful IPOs and mergers.

 

Chao Xiang (MSc Management Studies, St Mary's College, 2013-15): CFA Member with over 10 year’s experience in venture capital with a portfolio of successful investments, rewarded Hubei's Best Angel Investor, and an active participant in various entrepreneurial competitions and summits.

 

Teng Liu (MSc Financial Management, Trevelyan College, 2013-15): He has 10 years of experience in corporate investment and financing. Currently serving as the Investment Director at Shenzhen HTI Group, focusing on investment include intelligent equipment, information technology, commercial aerospace, and new materials.
