Durham Days March 2025

Formerly Dunelm Days, this week-long celebration was a series of events hosted by alumni, for alumni. It's been ten years since the first event; the programme has gone from strength to strength. Whether big or small, the events are characterised by one thing - a sense of pride in being part of Durham's global family.

Durham Days took place during Durham Global Week from Saturday 1 March – Sunday 9 March 2025 with alumni getting together in 41 cities across the world. Durham Days provided a great opportunity to catch up with old friends, make new connections and re-live your time at Durham. Huge thanks to all of our alumni volunteers for making Durham Days 2025 a success!

By alumni, for alumni...

Durham Days (previously Dunelm Days) took place during Global Week in March 2025 and was a week-long celebration featuring a series of events hosted by alumni, for alumni.

Durham Days is a fantastic way to reconnect with old friends, build new relationships with alumni, take a trip down memory lane and renew your Durham pride. It is always a global celebration, and this year was no exception.

A total of 41 events took place across 23 countries.

Thanks to our volunteers

Huge thanks goes to our amazing alumni volunteers. These events are only made possible thanks to their incredible support and dedication. Our global community reaches far and wide and they are key to keeping it connected to Durham.

The theme for Global Week was ‘Culture – Connect – Community’ and our event hosts  organised a variety of activities for alumni to take part in including afternoon tea, film screenings, panel events and guest speaker sessions.

Highlights include a special film screening of ‘To be Continued’ and post film Q&A in Hong Kong and a guest speaker event in Oslo featuring John Tørres Thuv, CEO of Gyldendal Agency, who delivered a talk on Reading in a digital world, followed by a guided tour of the Gyldendal building, an architectural masterpiece designed by Sverre Fehn, winner of the Pritzker Architecture Prize, Prins Eugen-medaljen, and Jacobprisen.

A huge success

“The event was a very nice experience and reminded me of the warm and welcoming atmosphere that Durham brings (even abroad!) The movie that they showed was very nice and thought provoking. Also, the fact that they try to build a community even outside these events which takes place once a year is just fantastic. A big thank you to the organiser, Nikos.” (Brussels Durham Days attendee)

“Every year, this special day reminds us why Durham holds such a cherished place in our hearts. It was wonderful to reconnect with alumni, hear their incredible stories, and see how their journeys have evolved over time. There’s something so special about reminiscing over shared experiences, reliving old memories, and creating new ones together. The energy, warmth, and nostalgia in the air were truly unforgettable” (Lahore Durham Days host)
