EDI Assistant Business Partner - Faculties
Mel joined Durham University in 2017 initially in HR before taking up an EDI post in 2018. In her previous role as EDI Lead (Race and Religion/Belief), she managed the University’s Race Equality Charter (REC) work and supported the delivery of the OfS-funded Hate Crime Project and the development/implementation of the Report + Support tool, alongside various collaborative initiatives with stakeholders such as the University's Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) Network and the Chaplaincy and Faith Steering Group, among others.
Currently, as the EDI Assistant Business Partner (Faculties), she is working with colleagues across faculties and academic departments in achieving their faculty/departmental EDI goals and in embedding Durham University's EDI Strategic Framework. She also continues to facilitate our work on REC as well as actively engage in ongoing initiatives that promote racial equity and religion/belief inclusion. 
Mel holds an MSc in Human Resource Management and in Business Psychology, as well as a BA in Legal Management and a CertHE in Psychology and Theology. Her previous postgraduate research focused on migrant workers’ experiences and on cross-cultural management.
