Durham LGBTQ+ Network

On 15th December 2009, the University launched its first Diversity Network for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) staff.

In 2019 the name of the network was changed to Durham LGBTQ+ Network.

The LGBTQ+ Network is open to all people from the LGBTQ+ community and Allies including Durham University Staff, Postgraduate Students, as well as their partners and friends. We are inclusive of marginalised and underrepresented LGBTQ+ groups.

The key aims of our network is to:

  • Provide confidential support and information to the community surrounding LGBTQ+ matters.
  • To offer advice and feedback on LGBTQ+ equality and diversity issues within the University.
  • To increase the visibility of the LGBTQ+ network within Durham and overcome issues our members face daily.
  • To organise social events and provide a safe space for networking opportunities both in the University and with our community partners.
  • Promote and organise research actives for our members to attend.
