Her Majesty The Queen

We are deeply saddened at the death of Her Majesty The Queen. Our thoughts are with members of the Royal Family at this time.

The Queen had numerous links with Durham and visited our University on various occasions, including when our ‘Stockton Campus’ was renamed on its tenth anniversary as ‘Queen’s Campus’ in recognition of Her Majesty’s Golden Jubilee in 2002. We share the nation’s gratitude for her service and sense of loss at her death.

Her Majesty The Queen's links to Durham

Her Majesty The Queen had long-standing and strong associations with Durham and with Durham University.

The Queen last visited the University in 2012 when, accompanied by her husband His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh, she had lunch at Durham Castle, part of the Durham Castle and Cathedral UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to our University College.
