Join us for a Business School-hosted workshop on Meta-Analysis in Management
Illustration of a web of data points connected together
Meta-analysis is a powerful and increasingly popular method for synthesizing research and plays a vital role in knowledge development within the field of Management. It is uniquely suited to generate robust evidence on a given topic of interest, help resolve mixed findings across studies, answer new questions beyond those examined in the primary studies on which it is based, and help practitioners make evidence-based decisions.
The aim of this workshop is to provide participants with introduction to and ‘taster’ of the possibilities of meta-analysis within Management. The workshop differentiates itself from other meta-analysis workshops in three ways. First, while other workshops narrowly focus on the intricacies of the statistical analysis involved in meta-analysis, this workshop takes a more holistic approach and covers all relevant stages, ranging from formulating a research question all the way to publishing meta-analyses in Management journals. Second, contrary to the sometime highly technical and statistical nature of other workshops, our aim is to teach participants this method in an accessible and applied way, which includes non-technical explanations and introducing them to user-friendly meta-analysis software. Our non-technical approach allows us to cover both the basics as well as advanced meta-analysis techniques. Third, while participating in meta-analysis workshops can be expensive, participating in this workshop is free of charge. Moreover, our workshop is funded by the Society for the Advancement of Management Studies (SAMS), which allows us to cover a part of your travel and accommodation expenses.
Facilitators
The workshop will be facilitated by Prof Bart de Jong (Durham University) and Prof Pursey Heugens (Erasmus University Rotterdam, the Netherlands). Both have expensive experience with conducting and publishing meta-analyses within the areas of Organizational Behavior and Organization Theory respectively, as well as extensive editorial experience at leading Management journals (e.g., AMJ, JOM).
