Previously part of the teaching resources within Durham University's Botany and Zoology departments, the Bioscience Collection holds a vast array of natural history specimens. From herbarium samples collected in County Durham to the fossilised remains of the now-extinct Giant Irish Elk, this collection offers a fascinating insight into the wonders of the natural world.

Over the past two years, the curatorial team for the Archaeology and Bioscience Collections have undergone a series of collections management, research and conservation processes to begin to make this collection accessible to the public. Join us for this engaging talk, where attendees will gain an insight into the behind-the-scenes work involved in preserving and reawakening a valuable scientific resource, shedding light on the challenges and discoveries along the way.

Free and all welcome. Please book through Eventbrite or by calling Palace Green Library on 0191 334 2932.
