Clay crafting

Join us for relaxed family activities for neurodiverse children and their families at the Oriental Museum on Thursday 17 October 3-5pm.

Although the museum is open to the public, the galleries are generally quieter at this time, and the drawing activities take place in a room away from the main galleries with a reduced number of people taking part.

Families can experiment by pressing a range of materials like leaves and shells to make impressions in clay. Gloves will be available.

The Oriental Museum galleries will be open for you to explore, and there are lots of self-led resources available including storybooks for a range of ages, toys and a cushion-filled chill out room.

A limited number of sensory bags will be available too, which contain ear defenders,

These activities are generally suitable for children and young people aged 5 - 11 years, but older children are welcome. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Places are FREE, but limited, so booking is essential.

Each ticket is for a family group of up to 2 children and 2 adults.

If you book a ticket and later find you cannot attend, please email oriental.museum@durham.ac.uk or telephone 0191 334 5691 to cancel your booking so we can make the ticket available for another family.
