Celebrate Eid Al-Fitr at the Oriental Museum and join us for an afternoon of arts and crafts, food and readings for the end of Spring.

Also known as the ‘Festival of Breaking the Fast’ Eid Al-Fitr is celebrated by Muslims around the world at the end of Ramadan, the month of fasting.

The afternoon of celebration will include art and craft activities, a delicious halal buffet, readings and more. There will a gallery trail for children and the museum galleries will be open for visitors to explore.

Everyone is welcome at this event. We hope you can join us.

This event is jointly organised by the Oriental Museum and Durham University Islamic Society.

Travel and parking

Free parking is available for this event in the Oriental Museum carpark and overflow parking at Teikyo and Elvet Hill car parks. There is also metered parking close by the museum and the Howlands Park and Ride is a 15 minute walk away from the museum.

The event is wheelchair accessible. Guide dogs are welcome, but no other dogs or animals will be permitted.

Photography and filming will be taking place at this event.  If you do not want your photograph taken, please contact a member of staff on the day.

This is an alcohol free event.

Places are limited and booking is essential. Refunds are available until 5pm on the Friday 21 April, please email your request.
