Durham Inspired: Hunt Scholarship

The Hunt Scholarship will provide £4,000 per year for the duration of the recipients' Computer Science Programme.

We are delighted to announce the introduction of the Hunt Scholarship generously supported by Durham Alumnus and former Netflix CPO, Dr Neil Hunt.

Eligibility

Applicant must have:

  • a household income below £42,875 (as determined by Student Finance)

    and meet one of the following

  • be the first generation in your immediate family to attend University

  • be from a background currently underrepresented in Computer Science

How to apply

  1. Apply for a course

    Submit an academic application to Durham University via UCAS prior to the scholarship deadline.

  2. Complete a scholarship application

    Submit the following by the scholarship deadline of 15th April 2024

     

    A completed scholarship application form

     

    Provide a copy of your Student Finance England letter confirming the amount of maintenance loan you will receive to scholarship.application@durham.ac.uk

    If you do not have this information by the scholarship deadline please provide it as soon as you receive it from Student Finance England.

     

    Arrange for a reference in support of your scholarship application to be sent by e-mail to scholarship.application@durham.ac.uk    Please ensure your referee submits the reference on letter headed paper which contains:

     

    their name

    position

    contact details 

    the name of the scholarship you have applied for

    your full name

     

    Application Deadline

     

    15th April 2024

     

    When candidates will hear the outcome of their application by

     

    End of May 2024

  3. Selection process

    • All eligible applications for the Hunt Scholarship will be considered on the basis of their personal statement, reference and academic status
    • Other scholarship awards may also be taken into account when considering the allocation of the scholarship
    • The University may use additional datasets to identify applicants who come from neighbourhoods with low overall progression to higher education or high levels of socio-economic deprivation
