Postgraduate and Postdoctoral Opportunities

Postgraduate research

We welcome contact from potential doctoral students who are interested in working on projects supervised by Centre members.

The Centre can offer supervision in a diverse range of areas by world-leading researchers, and is particularly keen to support projects that cross typical departmental and disciplinary lines.

Financial support for doctoral study is available via several competitive funding schemes, such as the Northern Bridge Doctoral Studentships and Durham Doctoral Scholarships.

Please contact the Director of the Centre via email or individual Centre members if you would like to discuss a project or find out more about the application process. This central university page also contains general information about applying to undertake postgraduate study at Durham.

Postdoctoral fellowships

The Centre actively seeks to support excellent candidates in applying to postdoctoral fellowship competitions. Such schemes include externally funded fellowships such as the British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowships, the Leverhulme Trust Early Career Fellowships, and the Newton International Fellowships. Centre members have wide experience in working with candidates to develop applications.

As part of Durham University, fellows will join one of the UK's most successful research communities, with the Centre supporting interdisciplinary projects and providing regular research and career-development events.
