Introduction to the facility

A Sciex TripleTOF 6600 mass spectrometer is the primary instrument for LC-MS-MS analysis in the laboratory and both data-dependent and data-independent methods are utilised.

Experimental sample types range from protein gel bands through affinity-purified proteins with interacting partners to complex cell lysates. The lab has expertise in sample preparation, digestion and clean-up prior to mass spectrometry and can advise as necessary on these important aspects of experimental design. In addition to bottom-up discovery-type experiments, the facility has the capability for quantitative proteomic experiments using peptide label (iTRAQ) or label-free (SWATH) approaches.
