Male rower in a boat

Jacopo Bertone, a postgraduate at Durham, has been part of DUBC's more recent successes on the water. His historical performances for both crew rowing in the USA, and representing Italy, stands him in good stead for an excellent showcasing talent for #DUGlobalWeek.

Born in the beautiful Italian city of Florence, Jacopo Bertone is an extraordinarily talented rower for Durham University Boat Club; a rising star within the performance programme. Jacopo is a postgraduate student, currently studying his MSc in Management, whilst representing Stephenson College. Prior to life as a student at Durham University, Jacopo spent three years in America studying and perfecting his oar skills at Syracuse University.

Like a duck to water, Jacopo doesn’t shy away from success in the boat. His most notable rowing achievements came before his move to Syracuse University and Durham. Jacopo boasts the title of Italian champion in the eight, not once but twice. He is also a two-time gold medalist in the eight at the 2016 Coupe de la Jeunesse. In addition, he had the astounding opportunity to represent Italy in the coxless four at the Junior World Championships in 2017, securing an honourable 6th place. Jacopo’s most recent achievements came within his previous academic year at Syracuse University, where he became co-captain and guided Syracuse to an undefeated season. Here at Durham, Jacopo was an integral part of the squad who recently won the Victor Ludorum, as well as part of the eight-man squad that won BUCS Head of the River.

Team Durham would like to celebrate and congratulate Jacopo's rowing achievements; whilst recognising Jacopo as an excellent representative for #DUGlobalWeek.
