Student Enrichment at Collingwood College

We aim to enhance the personal development of our students in a range of ways, and we proactively engage our alumni community and networks in this mission. Alumni offer support financially or by connecting students to once-in-a-lifetime work experience or opportunities.

The Collingwood Undergraduate Research Internship Programme

Want to find out how autonomous robots understand their environment, how people respond to fear, or study the origins of war propaganda? This programme provides paid opportunities for undergraduates to work alongside leading Durham academics on cutting-edge research projects for 6-8 weeks over summer.

Internships and opportunities

Each year we secure a number of exciting opportunities for students over the summer vacation.
Opportunities vary each year, but previous students have interned with MGM Casinos in Vegas, researched HIV in Zambia, marshalled with Sir Andrew McFarlane (President of the Family Division), carried out community research in County Durham, worked on maritime security in the Gulf of Oman, and shadowed on a movie set!

Our 2018 publication,A Path Through The Wood, features reports from students who took part in some of those activities.
