Biography
Tianyu Liu is a dedicated and curious researcher currently pursuing her PhD in Marketing at Durham University Business School. She holds a first-class degree in International Tourism Management from the University of Surrey and a Master of Science Degree in Marketing and Strategy from the University of Warwick.
As a Seminar Tutor for core modules, Retail and Services Marketing in the Marketing Programme, Tianyu actively contributes to the academic community, sharing her knowledge and assisting fellow students in their learning journey.
During her undergraduate and postgraduate studies, Tianyu gained practical experience in Marketing through internships at Microsoft, where she was involved in public relations, and at Meituan, where she contributed to user engagement efforts.
Her research interests lie in consumer behavior, digital marketing, and tourism management. Specifically, she focuses on user identity within cutting-edge technologies like mixed reality, with a particular emphasis on virtual influencer and brand authenticity within virtual environments.
Tianyu had the privilege of presenting some of her research findings at notable events, including the Academy of Marketing Doctoral Colloquium and the Narti Annual Doctoral Conference.
Tianyu also currently supports Alumni Relations activities and manages the Durham Business School's Alumni WeChat accounts. She helps to build relationships with alumni community in China. Tianyu assists the University and the China Chapters to work together on activities that benefit alumni.
With a passion for learning and a commitment to making meaningful contributions to her field, Tianyu Liu continues to explore new avenues of research and embraces opportunities to grow both personally and professionally.
