Toby Watson is Deputy Executive Dean and Professor (Teaching) in Finance at Durham University Business School. Toby joined the School in 2003 and has taught widely across undergraduate, postgraduate and post-experience programs in Finance and Economics. In addition, he has led on the development of new programmes, modules, and pedagogical initiatives.
During his time in Durham, Toby has taken a key role in the development and direction of education across the School and has served in a number of academic leadership positions. He is Deputy Executive Dean for the Faculty of Business. Together with leadership and management in relation to strategic projects, planning activities and accreditations at School level, his role involves faculty leadership of learning and teaching issues relating to undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes.
Toby has led and served on a large number of Department, School, Faculty and University committees, boards and groups relating to academic and operational matters. He has served as a panel member and assessor on internal and external quality and enhancement reviews, including as a peer reviewer internationally in relation to business school accreditation.
Toby is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) and a Certified Management and Business Educator (CMBE).
