Assistant Professor in Finance
Ercument Aksak is an Assistant Professor of Finance at Durham Business School.
Ercument is a Durham graduate, both at Master and PhD level. During his PhD studies and immediately after his graduation, he has taught numeorus modules on Economics and Finance in various departments at Durham University.
Following his teaching, he continued his career in finance industry. He worked both in public and private sectors, on multinational investment projects and in a number of countries. His professional work mainly focused on international energy investments, infrastructure projects and foreign investment portfolios. The geographical focus of his work was mainly on Southeast Asia, MENA, Southeast Europe (Balkans region) and Sub-Saharan Africa.
After his professional career, he has joined Durham Business School teaching team in 2019 and has become a Full-time member of the faculty in 2020.
Dr. Aksak's research focuses on the relationship between macro conditions and financial markets and decisions, emerging markets, regulation and ethics in markets, and corporate financing decisions.
Ercument's work has appeared in a number of peer reviewed journals and presented in numerous international conferences.
