Mr Daniel Leppert is a PhD candidate in the Department of Economics and Finance since January 2020, working broadly in the areas of environmental economics, discrete choice models, and climate risk. His thesis, supervised by Professor Riccardo Scarpa and Assistant Professor Ashar Aftab, focuses on the design of a market for spatially targeted natural flood management. The project aims to combine economic modelling with hydrological tools to better mitigate flood risk in the north of England.
Daniel graduated with an MSc in economics from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in 2019, where he was also a research assistant supervised by Professor Carl-Johan Lagerkvist. He spent six months as a visiting postgraduate scholar at ETH Zurich, where he developed an interest in environmental science and GIS. He later interned at FORES, a Swedish think tank, working on climate policy research.
