Carrie is a CIPFA qualified accountant who began her career in public sector audit and assurance, conducting audit engagements for a wide range of clients. After gaining a number of years of audit experience, Carrie began teaching at the CIPFA Education and Training Centre (CETC). She is able to use experiences from her time in practice to bring to life the materials and enable students to understand how the theory they study is applied in practice.
In 2013 she won the CIPFA Excellence in Education award, presented to the tutor who has demonstrated the most outstanding commitment to students and for delivered exceptional tuition throughout their courses. She was also shortlisted for the 2013 PQ Magazine Lecturer of the Year (Private Sector) Award.
Carrie was awarded Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy in May 2018.
Upon leaving CETC Carrie delivered training to students studying for membership of Chartered accountancy bodies on a freelance basis. She also authored learning materials used for face to face and distance learning for UK and international students for a variety of subjects. In addition to this Carrie has acted as both moderator and examiner for a number of professional accountancy examinations.
Carrie jointed the Business School in 2017 and teaches on a range of undergraduate and postgraduate modules.
Mini Biography
Carrie is a CIPFA qualified accountant who began her career in public sector audit and assurance. After gaining a number of years of audit experience, Carrie moved into teaching students studying for membership of chartered accountancy bodies. She subsequently moved into academic life and joined the Business School in 2017.
