Durham University Business School’s Online MBA has once again secured a coveted place in the Top 10 globally in the Financial Times Online MBA Rankings 2025. This achievement underscores our commitment to delivering high-quality, flexible education that empowers professionals worldwide.

Our Online MBA has consistently maintained its position in the Financial Times Top 10 since its first ranking in 2014. Established in 1988, the programme has evolved significantly, integrating modern technology, flexible learning options, dedicated careers support, and blended learning pathways.

Strong performance across key measures

Durham’s Online MBA stands out across several critical performance indicators:

  • 8th globally for alumni salary – 2021 graduates reported an average salary of $170,495 three years after completing the programme. This ranks 4th in Europe for this measure and reflects an average salary increase of 25% within three years of graduation.
  • 8th globally for research – Also 4th in Europe, this measure highlights the strength of our academic output and thought leadership, reinforcing our commitment to producing cutting-edge knowledge and real-world business solutions.
  • 12th globally for online interaction – This measure evaluates the quality of engagement between students, teamwork, and faculty availability, further reflecting our emphasis on a collaborative and supportive online learning environment.

Consistent excellence in value for money and careers support

For the fourth consecutive year, our Online MBA ranks 2nd globally for value for money, reflecting our consistent ability to deliver a high return on investment for students.

We also excel in careers support, ranking 3rd in Europe and 6th globally, based on alumni feedback. This recognition underscores our commitment to helping graduates achieve their career ambitions and succeed in a competitive global marketplace.

Specialised pathways and options

Like our full-time on-campus MBA, Durham’s Online MBA offers students the option to specialise their studies through structured pathways in Entrepreneurship, Consultancy, or Technology. These options enhance the programme’s relevance and appeal in today’s rapidly evolving business landscape.

Professor Owain Smolovic-Jones, Programme Director, said: "As the business environment evolves, we continue to deliver an innovative Online MBA programme that equips future leaders with the skills and knowledge to thrive in a competitive, global market. Indeed, in these tough financial times, we are delighted that we are helping our students by offering a programme that is great value for money and that helps them land a substantial salary increase after graduation.

This ranking reflects the dedication of our faculty, the ambition of our students, and the strength of our global network."

This latest ranking reinforces the School’s position as one of the top institutions globally for pursuing an Online MBA, delivering a transformative educational experience that prepares future business leaders for success.
