Welcome and Introduction
Congratulations on receiving your offer to study at Durham University. It gives us great pleasure to welcome you to the Post-offer Visit Day for Finance courses which will take place in the Business School.
What to expect on your visit
To give you an idea of what you can look forward to during the day:
- An introduction to the structure and approach of your course and a flavour of the type of modules we deliver.
- A sample teaching session to provide a short example of the Business School’s learning and teaching environment.
- Insights into how extra-curricular activities can be used to develop your experience of business in practice and the benefits of adding a ‘Placement Year’ to your degree.
- An opportunity to speak to our student ambassadors to get an insight into what life is like as a Durham University Finance student.
We hope that you enjoy your day. Please take this opportunity to ask all of your questions and gather enough information to make an informed choice. We look forward to meeting you.

Information for Guests of Offer-holders
Unfortunately, due to space constraints, it is very unlikely that we shall be able to accommodate guests of offer-holders in the department sessions.
Guests of offer-holders are encouraged to drop-in to speak to central services during the event at the Palatine Centre and the Information Hub. You are also welcome to see our facilities, such as the Bill Bryson Library and Sports and Wellbeing Park.
You are welcome to join us for the final individual questions part at the end of the session once the full session has been brought to a close – about half an hour prior to the end of the session - to help the applicant you are supporting raise specific individual questions.
If you are looking for somewhere to stop for lunch, we have a range of cafés open to visitors, or you are welcome to venture into the city centre to explore options there.
