Archaeological illustration in action

Led by Mark Hoyle, a renowned archaeological illustrator, each session offers personal guidance and hands-on experience with artefacts from the Museum of Archaeology collection. Mark brings a wealth of expertise and will help participants develop their archaeological illustration skills.

Come along to the next session of the Saturday Archaeological Illustration Club! This time, we’ll be focusing on Roman finds from the Piercebridge River Assemblage and in particular decorative horse harness equipment, but if you’d like to keep working on pottery or coin illustrations, you’re welcome to do so with support from Mark. Whether you're a beginner or have some experience, it’s a great chance to learn, practice, and have fun in a relaxed setting!

No booking required, simply drop in, pay £5 cash, and join in!

The atmosphere is informal and welcoming. There’s no pressure to create a perfect drawing or attend every session—just come along and enjoy the experience.
