Research interests
- Katherine is a PhD student in the School of Education at Durham University, supervised by Professor Stephen Gorard, Dr Johny Daniel and Professor Nadia Siddiqui. Her current research explores the literacy development of children, with a focus on its association with a range of social, economic and personal factors.
- Katherine is committed to advancing inclusive educational practices, especially in relation to SEND. She built on this interest through her chosen research projects whilst working as a Research Assistant within Durham University’s School of Education. This included supporting the creation of open educational reading programs, aimed at primary school students who find reading particularly challenging. Katherine has also researched the academic achievements of children with mild bilateral and unilateral hearing loss in comparison with their peers with typical hearing. Katherine’s work continues to shape her understanding of inclusive education and motivates her to produce robust, evidence-based research that advances equity for all learners.
