My PhD Research
The Heat Beneath Our Feet: modelling groundwater flow and heat transfer in abandoned coal mines for minewater geothermal energy.
I will be using MatLab and ArcGIS to model groundwater flow and heat transfer in abandoned coal mines. I will be researching how water flow within the mine systems affects the siting of the abstraction and re-injection wells, as well as establishing some generic rules for having multiple users in one mine system.
