The DRMC is delighted to report on a completed piece of work funded by The Nuffield Foundation, in which we were assessing the impact of Covid-19 related school closures on the development of writing skills of primary school children in England.
The general effect of Covid-19 related school closures on the development of writing skills was minimal in comparison to pre-existing differences related to Pupil Premium eligibility, sex, geographic region, or school type. Differential effects of these context variables on primary school pupils’ writing skill development were also small.
