Durham Engineering Student Scores Big on Countdown

David Millar Countdown

David Millar, a third-year engineering student and social media ambassador, delivered an impressive performance on the popular TV game show Countdown, scoring 89 points.

Although David narrowly missed the rare 100-point milestone, his achievement was remarkable. David said his engineering studies helped him in the numbers rounds, and he even brushed up on his 74-times tables before the show. The episode, aired on 20 January, saw him in a closely fought contest, with 12 rounds tied between him and his competitor. David's success adds to a strong year for Durham, following the university’s win in the Christmas University Challenge against Queen’s College, Cambridge.
