Professor Timon Rabczuk

Timon Rabczuk is a chaired professor of Computational Mechanics at Bauhaus University, Weimar, Germany. He received his Dr.-Ing from the University of Karlsruhe (nowadays called KIT) in January 2002 and spend nearly 4 years as postdoctoral fellow with Prof. Ted Belytschko at the Computational Mechanics group at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Northwestern University, USA. After an appr. 1 year stay at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Munich, Timon was appointed Senior Lecturer at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of University of Canterbury, Christchurch New Zealand. Timon is a member of the Academia Europaea, European Academy of Science, European Academy of Sciences and Arts and International Society of Mechanical Systems Dynamics (ISMSD). He is a fellow of the Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association (AAIA). His major research area is Simulation Based Engineering Science and Computational Mechanics. He is particularly interested in developing computational methods for the solution of partial differential equations (PDEs) and applying them to challenging problems in engineering and materials science.
