Abstract

The purpose of this presentation is to introduce a research project that examines intercultural education and integration policies and practices, and to outline a theoretical framework for the school citizenship model. The primary aim of the research is to contribute to the enhancement of mutual integration among students, teachers, and families from diverse cultural backgrounds through the application of the school citizenship approach. Within this context, the presentation will discuss the general theoretical foundations of the school citizenship model and explore the role and significance of schools in fostering mutual integration.

Bio

Ali is a professor at the Faculty of Education at Kutahya Dumlupınar University, Türkiye. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on educational administration, organizational behavior, effective schools, philosophy of education. His recent research has focused particularly on the interaction between education and migration. He conducts academic studies and research projects, particularly focusing on the school citizenship model and migration and education. He is currently conducting a research project on intercultural education and mutual integration, supported by TUBITAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey), at Durham University's School of Education.
